چکیده
Abstract Background Previous research has shown that teachers hold misconceptions about multimedia learning (e.g., instruction needs to be adapted students' styles), which may at odds with evidence‐based teaching. Objectives Refutation texts are a classical method reduce and thus stimulate conceptual change. We wanted know whether making use of computer algorithm personalize refutation would best initiate teachers' Methods designed an online experiment, in N = 129 in‐service read either (1) expository (without direct refutation), (2) common texts, or (3) personalized texts. The filled misconception questionnaire pre post assess their Results Conclusions Statistical analyses revealed initiated the strongest change, was driven by increased feelings guilt shame. Common did not foster change as compared These findings indicate should for experienced practitioners such teachers. Takeaways Personalized seems promising context teacher training programs. Further test extent present also apply other groups learners practitioners.

Teachers' beliefs about learning from multimedia
Opinions about the psychological correlates of multimedia computer-supported instructional tools were analyzed by means of a questionnaire concerning the motivational and emotional aspects of multimedia learning, the strategies to be followed during the learning process, the mental abilities and the style of thinking required, the cognitive benefits and outcomes. The questionnaire was distribut...
متن کاملOn Learning versus Refutation
Building on the work of Daniely et al. (STOC 2014, COLT 2016), we study the connection between computationally efficient PAC learning and refutation of constraint satisfaction problems. Specifically, we prove that for every concept class P, PAC-learning P is polynomially equivalent to “random-right-hand-side-refuting” (“RRHS-refuting”) a dual class P∗, where RRHS-refutation of a class Q refers ...
متن کاملOn Davidson ’ S Refutation of Conceptual Schemes and Conceptual Relativism
Despite D. Davidson’s influential criticism of the very notion of conceptual schemes, the notion continues enjoying its popularity in contemporary philosophy and, accordingly, conceptual relativism is still very much alive. There is one major reason responsible for Davidson’s failure which has not been widely recognized: What Davidson attacks fiercely is not the very notion, but a notion of con...
متن کاملLearning with Refutation
In their pioneering work, Mukouchi and Arikawa modeled a learning situation in which the learner is expected to refute texts which are not representative of L, the class of languages being identified. Lange and Watson extended this model to consider justified refutation in which the learner is expected to refute texts only if it contains a finite sample unrepresentative of the class L. Both the...
